Searching County Records Online
Every county has a public records office. As you probably already know when you need to know things like property records, deeds, criminal records, etc.. this is the place you go.
Of course most of these places were built long ago and things have changed with the Internet over the year. Many of the counties have their public records online. Some are free and some charge a per-search-fee. Still others have you pay to get an online copy of the document you want.
There are lots of times where you need to a nationwide background type search. You can’t go to every county in the nation to search them one-by-one. But what you can do is use a nationwide database to do your searching. There are free ones paid ones. In general I’ve found the free ones to be out of date and incomplete. Who knows maybe a company like Google will change this one day but for now that’s just how things are.
I decided to start this blog as a place where you can find how to search specific county reocrds or do a big nationwide search. I’ll make sure to post my best tips here for you. I will also tell you about sites that just don’t work well, are incomplete, or not up to date.
If you need to search county records and don’t know where to start read some of the posts in this blog. They will certainly help you get started and on your way.
